Let us take you back in time with a Guided Walking Tour of Underground Atlanta!
We have been here from the very beginning! Marking Georgia's first railroad, The Zero Milepost still stands next to Underground Atlanta today. A bustling new town emerged around the milepost in the mid-1800s and by the eve of the Civil War, Atlanta had a population of 10,000. As the trade and cultural center for the South; Alabama Street, between Peachtree Street and Central Avenue, was the city's center, and later became what we know today as Underground Atlanta. Exhibiting some of its original architecture and rich history, Underground Atlanta remains one of oldest and most unique attractions in the city. Visitors from all over the world gravitate to the area looking to learn and understand more about Atlanta's early beginnings.
Our 50-minute, interactive, Guided Walking Tour features historic sites highlighting the Battle of Atlanta, Gone with the Wind, the importance of Atlanta's railroads, Martin Luther King, Jr., the 1996 Olympics and more. See what life was like in the early 1800's and what it is today as you follow our professional historians down the historic streets of Underground Atlanta. The tour is designed for both adults and children and ends with a spectacular view of Downtown Atlanta.
